A little late… but 2025 needed a recap ✨ So many beautiful moments for Thaamsz!

Slide 2–3 | January Started the year in Jaipur 🇮🇳 Days spent in block print studios, learning, wandering, absorbing. Loved seeing how floral blocks are inspired by Amber Fort’s architecture.

Welcome to our world 💛✨

Did you know that most of the women you see here on my Insta wearing Thaamsz are not professional models, but my beautiful friends and amazing women I cross paths with on my journeys? ✨

Most of the time, when I am traveling with a friend, we simply take photos along the way. Different days, different outfits and different places. We wander around and whenever we find a beautiful wall or a cute little corner, we take a few photos and continue our day.

And when I am traveling alone, I step out of my comfort zone and ask inspiring women I meet , in a café or just on the street. Many of them have never done a photoshoot before, yet they look so stunning. So a little ode to all these lovely ladies who bring the Thaamsz pieces to life! 🤍

What we mean when we say ethically handcrafted 🙌🏼
Here’s a little glimpse of how our fabrics are printed, traditionally by hand, using hand-engraved wooden blocks, dipped, stamped, repeated many times to create a pattern. And… this video shows only one part of the fabric’s journey, because before the printing begins, the cloth has already gone through many hands and different stages too.

After printing and drying under the sun, the fabric continues its journey into the dye bath.

Celebrating the artisans in India who continue to breathe life into this ancient textile craft✨

De nieuwe collectie hangt in de winkel én we zijn officieel geen pop-up meer maar een vaste winkel! De winkel is helemaal vernieuwd en het voelt als een totaal andere plek. Dus als je nog eens wilde langskomen… zaterdag is dé dag!

We serveren gratis Indiase chai en onze favoriete buur @bakkerijkameel Kameel geeft de allerlekkerste gratis kaneelbollen weg (bij besteding vanaf €35 in onze winkel)
Ook is Jenneke van @karel.en.co aanwezig met hun fantastische ethische knuffels van prachtige handgeweven Ikat stoffen.

29 november valt in het Black Friday-weekend, maar als klein merk doen wij daar bewust niet aan mee. In plaats daarvan vieren we juist de kleine ondernemers die onze stad zo gezellig maken.

En je kunt het ook goed combineren met een ochtendje Lapjesmarkt, want daar is Mara die dag aanwezig met de mooiste handgemaakte stoffen! De markt is op loopafstand van de winkel door het mooie oude centrum (en je kunt onderweg ook nog de bloemenmarkt meepakken!)

So happy that the store is finally filled with these beautiful new items! 💗 We’ve worked on this collection for over six months, including a visit to the villages in India to meet the artisan families who create the fabrics, the tailors who sew our pieces, and of course the incredible women who add the embroidery and hand-stitching.

Every item is traditionally handcrafted with natural dyes, block prints, handwoven fabrics and hand embroidered details. Something I’m extra grateful about is that a bigger part of the collection is now made from organic cotton!

Last week I captured lots of new items (so exciting!) and I’m now working hard to upload everything to the online shop. It’s a long process, so it will take a little time & that’s why I’ll probably do a little first access story sale with the new collection items soon, so you don’t have to wait any longer!

During our last trip to India, we visited small villages known for their weaving traditions and bought fabrics directly from the weavers. Each piece carries the beauty of true hand-craftsmanship with tiny irregularities and gentle texture. The fabrics are made from organic cotton grown in their own village, making them not only beautiful but also kind to the soil, the people, and our planet.

With every journey to India, I hope to continue learning and exploring new sustainable practices, bringing them into the collection, one step at a time. ✨💛

Indigo Dreaming 💙 Did you know that the first new items are in store already?

Stiekem had ik natuurlijk gehoopt dat de volledige nieuwe collectie er al zou zijn. Maar ik word er iedere keer weer aan herinnerd dat THAAMSZ een slow fashion label is , en dat onze items nu eenmaal veel tijd vragen om gemaakt te worden.

De nieuwe ontwerpen bestaan uit verschillende handwerktechnieken en handgeweven stoffen die extra aandacht en zorg vragen bij het in elkaar zetten. Daarbij gingen we dit keer nét iets te laat naar India om alles op tijd klaar te hebben, het blijft een leerproces om te werken met de seizoenen, onze eigen productieplanning en de samenwerkingen met de ateliers in India.

Maar… de eerste nieuwe items zijn er gelukkig al wél! En naast kleding heb ik dit keer ook veel andere schatten meegenomen: sieraden van messing en zilver, blockprint-blokken om zelf mee te drukken, antieke houten raampjes, handbeschilderde olifantjes en bakjes, nieuwe Indiase stoffen en nog veel meer!!

We zijn deze week woensdag & donderdag gesloten, vanaf vrijdag openen we onze deuren weer! Daarover deel ik snel meer ✨✨✨

De nieuwe ontwerpen bestaan uit verschillende handwerktechnieken en handgeweven stoffen die extra aandacht en zorg vragen bij het in elkaar zetten. Daarbij gingen we dit keer nét iets te laat naar India om alles op tijd klaar te hebben, het blijft een leerproces om te werken met de seizoenen, onze eigen productieplanning en de samenwerkingen met de ateliers in India.

Maar… de eerste nieuwe items zijn er gelukkig al wél! En naast kleding heb ik dit keer ook veel andere schatten meegenomen: sieraden van messing en zilver, blockprint-blokken om zelf mee te drukken, antieke houten raampjes, handbeschilderde olifantjes en bakjes, nieuwe Indiase stoffen en nog veel meer!!

We zijn deze week woensdag & donderdag gesloten, vanaf vrijdag openen we onze deuren weer! Daarover deel ik snel meer ✨✨✨

Indigo 💙
Yesterday on the market someone asked me:
how is indigo considered a natural dye if there are chemicals used in the process? Such a good question
and I thought it would be nice to share a bit more about it here, as some of you might wonder too:

There are two kinds of indigo: natural and synthetic.
The fabrics we use are dyed the natural way, made from the indigo plant.

Still, even natural indigo needs a little help: To make the pigment dissolve and attach to the fabric, the dye bath needs a few supporting ingredients like lime (calcium hydroxide) and a reducing agent such as sodium hydrosulfite.

These are non-toxic, low-impact substances , but gentle helpers that make the natural pigment bond to the fabric.

So while the pigment itself is plant-based, the process needs a few soft helpers to bring that deep blue magic to life 💙✨

On our earlier journeys we mainly dived into block printing, but this time we were drawn deeper into the rhythm of the handloom. Where every thread carries patience, skill and tradition.
